Horacio Saggion
Dr. Horacio Saggion is a Ramon y Cajal Research Professor at Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Barcelona where he works in the Natural Language Processing group. He has over 10 years experience in human language technology in the areas of automatic text summarization, information extraction, question answering, and opinion mining. He received his PhD from University of Montreal in 2000. Since 2000 he has participated and managed a number of research projects such as the UK projects SOCIS and CubReporter and the EU-funded projects MUMIS and MUSING. He is the scientific coordinator of the Simplext Project. He has participated in a number of international human language technology evaluations and produced competitive NLP technology. He has produced over 60 research papers for relevant conferences and journals in field of human language technology. He is an expert in the GATE system.
